The Hamilton County Jail was opened in October of 2004. The Jail can hold up to 44 prisoners. The Hamilton County Jail holds prisoners for Hamilton County, US Marshalls Service, The Federal Bureau of Prisons, State of Iowa, and other surrounding Counties on an as needed basis.
The Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003(PREA) is a federal law that supports the elimination, reduction, and prevention of sexual abuse in adult and juvenile facilities as well as community correction programs.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office mandates zero tolerance toward all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. The safety and well–being of all incarcerated adults is paramount, and the Sheriff’s Office shall extend all efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to such conduct. Any individual that needs prints for adoption, firearms, and jobs may schedule an appointment with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (515-832-8629). Costs for prints are $25 cash only /individual. Must bring a photo id and their own print cards.
Dropping off Money for Inmates:
Family and friends of inmates are allowed to drop off money for an inmate 24/7 at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office located at 2300 Superior St in WebsterCity. Money dropped off must be in the form of cash or money order.
Money can also be sent in the mail in the form of cash or money order. The envelope must be addressed in this form:

Inmates will be allowed to make phone calls to family and friends from phones in the jail by calling collect or by purchasing phone cards. Phone cards can be purchased online, or at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office located at 2300 Superior St, Webster City, Iowa. These cards are $10 for 20 minutes or $20 for 40 minutes. Jail staff are not permitted to deliver personal messages to inmates unless an emergency condition exists.
Individuals may leave voicemails for the inmates 24 hours 7 day a week at 515-832-1258.
